Govt directs retailers not to keep "unseasonable" profit margin on tur dal

On Friday, consumer affairs secretary Rohit Kumar Singh issued a directive to retailers urging them not to maintain an "unreasonably low" profit margin on pulses, particularly turdal. In a gathering with Retailers Relationship of India (RAI) and major coordinated retailers, the secretary advised them to adjust the retail edges so that the organization of heartbeats utilization bushel of families isn't upset by cost rise. An official statement stated, "He directed them to ensure that retail margins for pulses, especially tur dal, are not kept at an unreasonable level."

The major players in the retail sector pledged their full cooperation with the government and promised to do everything in their power to control pulse prices. The department held a series of meetings with stakeholders throughout the pulses value chain to ensure that consumers have access to pulses that are both affordable and readily available. Today's meeting with the retail association and major organized retail chains is one of those meetings. To prevent hoarding, the department is keeping a close eye on traders' and importers' stock disclosures.
