Cotton Farming – The Success Story

In the Maharashtra region of Marathwada and Vidarbha, cotton is one of the most important crops. One man, Mr. Ingle, defied all odds, applied modern farming methods, and emerged as an inspiration for other farmers at a time when the majority of the state's regions were dealing with numerous farming-related issues. The backstory: Vijay was cultivating cotton in the conventional way, producing average results. He realized that drip irrigation could help him grow more produce and that the availability of water could be one of the obstacles.

The problem: Drip irrigation was not used by any of the farmers in and around his village to grow cotton. It was basically impossible that he could ensure the progress of dribble water system. Was the risk worth it? Let's investigate.

The way it works: He set up drip irrigation on his 14-acre farm after purchasing the necessary tools. He had to put in a lot of money, but he knew it would pay off.

The outcome: Plants were able to grow uniformly with drip irrigation. Additionally, using fertilizer through drip irrigation made it simpler to supply the required nutrients. In the same year, his farm produced 35 quintals of cotton, setting an example for others to follow. He received the Appasaheb Pawar Irrigation Award for developing novel farming practices and accomplishing a feat that was unprecedented in the region.
